Working at Wilkinson in Walton is a joy! The glamarous customers with their double buggies cluttering aisles and the pensioners that need personal shoppers aswell as the Posh twats that can’t see to bag their own goods at the tills!

Today i was doing some overtime on the tills (1-6:30). Rota-ed in to do Tills, i was unfortunately at the face of some strange customers.

At around 4pm, a lady came and complained to a Cashier called PAUL, who had scanned the incorrect items through the till. It was PLEDGE duster refills, there was one on promotion, the other one not! Typically the lady wanted one of the ones not on Promotion and three from promotion. The Cashier scanned four of the expensive ones not seeing they were different!

Of course this lady, having nothing better to do, had a look at her receipt and noticed the unwelcome overcharge! She came back to his till. This is the point where we offer her to refund the difference. Prior to shopping at Wilkinson she had bought some frozen food from Sainsburys, she then came back to our store because of the receipt.

Being an intelligent customer as most of ours are, she left this frozen food in the trunk of a car at about 24 DEGREES! Back to the transaction, i offered to refund her the difference, she said this was frankly not good enough and wanted ALL FOUR PLEDGE PACKS FOR FREE! Not only that, but she wanted her Parking charge refunded and some compensation for her frozen food back.

Of course being only a CSA in contract, i could not authorise any of this so i called my Manager down. He promptly sorted out the problem bur funnily enough, the Lady only got the difference refunded! It shows how customers don’t take our word for it, it was completely her problem that she failed to notice the difference on the receipt as she left the store, so we have no responsibility for the frozen food she chose to leave in the car, which should have been driven home immediately.

Car Parking is also another issue! We DO NOT EVEN OWN THE CAR PARK behind the store, it is Council Owned. Some people seem to forget this and then blame us for having to pay for it. Same with the lift for this parking, it was once broken and GUESS WHAT! The customer BLAMED US for it not working! What can we do, it’s not even our property.

Well we got rid of her in the end, most demanding customer i’ve ever met, makes me think, why should i have to deal with stuff like this for such a low wage, just over £6 per hour we get.
